Fix DVD Drive Not Detected in Windows 7/8

Fix # 1) Check Connections
First of all if you are facing this issue on desktop computer, then check your DVD drive cables. Sometimes this error may be because of loose connections. If the problem is still there, then follow fix # 2.
Fix # 2) Using Command Prompt
Launch CMD as administrator from start menu. Once CMD is launched, copy and paste the command below and hit enter key.
reg.exe add “HMLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0” /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0X0000000
Once this command is executed, close the command prompt window and restart you PC to check DVD Drive not working in Windows 7/8 error still there or not.
Fix # 3) Freeware Tool
If none of above method worked in your case to fix DVD Not Working in Windows 7/8, then download the free utility named CD-Drive Icon Repair and launch it. Click on “Repair CD-DVD Icon” button and then let the utility do the rest.
